Biography
Duo Denicija is a classical guitar duo founded in 2018 by Macedonian guitarists Anastasija Mileska and Aleksandar Andrijevski. The duo was formed during their studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne in Germany, where both musicians earned their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in classical guitar under the guidance of Prof. Gerhard Reichenbach. They also completed a chamber music specialization focused on guitar duo repertoire.
Beyond their formal education, they participated in the guitar workshop of Prof. Łukasz Kuropaczewski in Poznań, Poland, and took part in masterclasses with internationally recognized artists including Douglas Lora, Matt Greif, Aniello Desiderio, Goran Krivokapić, Tillman Hoppstock, Meng Su, Dale Kavanagh and others.
Both Anastasija and Aleksandar have been individually awarded with dozens of first prizes at national and international guitar competitions as soloists. Since forming Duo Denicija, they have received several awards, including First Prize at the International Competition Ida Presti (2018), First Prize at the International Competition Nordhorn (2019) and special Prize for the best interpretation of a set Piece by Dale Kavanagh at the International Guitar Competition Iserlohn (2025).
They have performed at numerous festivals and concert series across Europe, such as Thüringer Herbstkurs (Germany), Tremolo International Guitar Festival (North Macedonia), Young-Masters Samobor (Croatia), Radevormwalder Gitarrentage (Germany), Summer Guitar Academy Ohrid (Macedonia), Internationales Bergisches Gitarrenfestival in Remscheid (Germany), Concerti del Tempietto in Rome (Italy), Days of Macedonian Music (Macedonia), Gitarristenpodium Zwolle (Netherlands), at the Rigstag in Stockholm (Sweden), and in the Gallery MC New York (USA).
Their repertoire covers a wide range of styles, from Baroque and Classical music to contemporary works and original transcriptions, with a particular focus on commissioning new compositions. In October 2023, they premiered a collection of six newly written works for two guitars, inspired by elements of traditional Macedonian folk music and composed specifically for the duo.
In addition to their performance activity, Anastasija and Aleksandar are engaged in music education. They have given masterclasses at international events including Radevormwalder Gitarrentage, Gitarristenpodium Zwolle, and the Summer Guitar School Ohrid.
Anastasija and Aleksandar are also the founders and artistic directors of the Ohrid Guitar Days, which offers workshops, masterclasses, and concerts for young guitarists and connects students with experienced performers and educators from around Europe.
